Hyperdrive Design – The Next Generation of Baitcasting Performance: Daiwa’s Hyperdrive Design is a cutting-edge engineering concept that enhances power, durability, and efficiency in baitcasting reels. By integrating advanced manufacturing techniques, Hyperdrive Design ensures smooth and consistent performance under heavy loads, setting a new standard for reel longevity and strength. This innovative system is built on four key elements: Hyper Armed Housing – a rigid metal frame (magnesium or aluminum) that eliminates flex and keeps internal components perfectly aligned; Hyperdrive Digigear – a precision-machined gear system with larger, stronger teeth for superior smoothness and endurance; Hyper Double Support – a dual ball-bearing support system for the pinion gear, enhancing power transmission and durability; and Hyper Tough Clutch – a reinforced clutch mechanism that stays securely engaged even under extreme casting pressure.

aluminum) that permanently houses the gear unit in a safe way within the reel body.

HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT
The HYPER DRIVE DESIGN concept comprises a combination of different manufacturing techniques, which considerably improve the functioning and the lifespan of a baitcasting reel.
HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT – the pinion gear is mounted via each a ball
bearing at both sides, leading to a better and more even power transmission
from the handle. The surface of the pinion gear is specially treated to prevent
electrostatic corrosion.
HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH
The HYPER DRIVE DESIGN concept comprises a combination of different manufacturing techniques, which considerably improve the functioning and the lifespan of a baitcasting reel.
HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH – the clutch mechanics have been optimized to
remain safely in their position also at hard casts.
MAGSEALED BALL BEARING
Daiwa’s Magsealed technology has continuously evolved, bringing innovation to new components of the reel. First applied to the main shaft, then the line roller, it has now been integrated into the ball bearing, marking a groundbreaking advancement in fishing reel design. By incorporating Magsealed oil into the ball bearing, Daiwa has created an almost frictionless, waterproof barrier that prevents contaminants from affecting the bearing's movement. This breakthrough ensures an extended lifespan and consistently smooth performance over time, revolutionizing the fishing tackle industry.
ATD
The biggest issue with many drag systems is that they are not smooth at the beginning of the drag.
ATD is fine tuned to react more quickly, the instant line release is required. This smoother start up eliminates the ‘snatch’ that previously occurred when tension inertia was overcome.
ATD also implements structural changes to the spool metal of the reel that provides greater support of the spool across the entire length of the main shaft. This additional support reduces spool twist under load, promotes more even pressure on the drag washers and ultimately reduces "pulsing" of the drag when fighting the fish.
CRBB
Shielded for extra protection. Unlike ordinary "corrosion resistant" bearings with un unprotected open race, DAIWA's CRBB ball bearings are shielded to seal out sand, fine grit, salt crystals and other abrasives for even longer life.
CRBB ball bearings feature an 12 times higher corrosion resistance than usual ball bearings.
