One-handed remote control. A new technology has been introduced for DAIWA electric reels. It’s called ‘REMOTE JOG’.
Thanks to the new ‘Remote JOG’ technology, large electric reels can be operated with one hand, just like a small electric reel.
Furthermore, not only is it now possible to wind the line from a distance, but one can also check the water depth from a distance; this has transformed deep-sea and big-game fishing into a more comfortable experience than ever before.
Until now, electric reels were typically operated by directly manipulating the reel itself. However, with the introduction of REMOTE JOG, it is now possible to control the reel (start, stop and adjust speed) without having to touch it directly. What’s more, this can be done from a distance.
The REMOTE JOG system utilises DAIWA Technology’s ‘JOG Power Lever’. This allows for one-handed operation, just as if you were using a smaller model.
Of course, it’s not just about the controls.
The LCD screen on the REMOTE JOG synchronises with the electric reel to display the water depth at all times. It’s just like a portable, compact electric reel.
You never know when a fish might take the bait. With large electric reels, which are usually left to fish on their own, you’re always a split second behind when a fish takes the bait whilst you’re away from the reel.
However, with REMOTE JOG, actions such as baiting the fish and setting the hook whilst winding can be performed instantly.
Another extremely useful feature is being able to check the water depth at a glance. For example, in deep-sea fishing, when the captain specifies a fishing depth of several hundred metres, it takes a considerable amount of time to retrieve the Rig and land the fish.
Until now, I’ve had to keep glancing at the reel’s LCD screen whilst retrieving my Rig, but with REMOTE JOG, I can check the water depth at a glance without having to worry about the FUNE’s motion or glare from the sun on the screen.
In the spare moments in between, you might even be able to check your next Rig, tidy up your gear, or have a bite to eat or a drink. All whilst keeping an eye on the water depth, of course.

Hole for a safety strap to prevent the device from falling

Even if the reel and the remote JOG are in close proximity, due to the nature of wireless communication, the signal strength may temporarily drop, causing an alarm to sound; this is not a fault.
