The Versatile, designed to fill the Φ32mm hole that had been left open right in the centre for so long.
The masterpiece that completes the picture of the next-generation bait strategy is the third-generation STEEZ SV TW, fitted with a φ32mm SV-BOOST spool.
This third generation does not feature a Zero Adjuster (formerly known as the mechanical brake). By the time of the second-generation 16STEEZ, DAIWA reels were already capable of adjusting the drag solely via the MAGFORCE dial. The third generation has completely eliminated the mechanism formerly known as the mechanical brake, evolving into an entirely new sub-brake-less design.
The HYPERDRIVE DESIGN, which governs ‘reeling performance and durability’, has been incorporated into this highly rigid yet compact body. Reeling performance has also been significantly enhanced; the φ32mm SV-BOOST spool made from G1 duralumin, the TWS system and the sub-brake-less mechanism all conform to the ‘ULTIMATECASTING DESIGN’—a casting design philosophy that DAIWA has pursued for many years and has finally perfected.

DAIWA Technology

HYPERDRIVE DESIGN
A next-generation design philosophy for Bait (two-axis) reels, which significantly raises the standard of all fundamental performance characteristics with the aim of ensuring that high initial performance is sustained over the long term. The Hyper Drive Design comprises up to four technologies. It requires the incorporation of the HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR, which ensures smooth rotation over the long term, alongside HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT, which assists gear drive to deliver powerful yet effortless winding. The HYPER ARMED HOUSING provides robust internal structural support, making it resistant to flexing and distortion. The HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH features an insulated structure that ensures continuous operation even in harsh environments, whilst drastically reducing seizure caused by salt build-up. The synergistic effect of these features ensures consistently stable performance across all fishing environments.

HYPER ARMED HOUSING (FULL METAL)
A case system that firmly supports the internal structure with high rigidity and precision, delivering a smooth winding action and powerful performance. The use of metal for the frame—the core component—is essential; combined with the side plates and set plates, this ensures that the fundamental performance is maintained over the long term.
In this series, the frame and gear-side side plate (handlebar side) are made from die-cast magnesium, whilst the dial-side set plate is made from die-cast aluminium alloy; both are finished with high-precision machining to deliver unrivalled rigidity.

TWS (T-WING SYSTEM)
TWS has succeeded in significantly reducing resistance at the line guide closest to the spool—the point where spool rotation speed is at its highest. By minimising resistance that impedes casting distance, it not only improves casting distance and control beyond previous levels, but also enables a faster fall and reduces Backlash. This realises a new level of line winding capability not only during reeling but also during the casting action.

UTD (Ultimate Tournament Drag)
DAIWA’s drag system eliminates the initial hesitation when the drag first engages, delivering smooth, consistent performance without any jerking, whilst also offering maximum Drag Force that increases the tighter it is set.

ULTIMATECASTING DESIGN
Bringing your imagined casting trajectory to life.
In order to realise the ‘ULTIMATECASTING DESIGN’ that DAIWA has been pursuing for many years, it was necessary to bring together the four elements that significantly influence castability and to maximise the performance of each to the absolute limit.
These features—including the ‘world’s first from DAIWA’, the electromagnetic induction brake [MAGFORCE + variable inductance rotor], as well as [TWS], [G1 duralumin spool] and [ZERO ADJUST]—are all based on DAIWA’s proprietary technology and concepts.
Whether it be the technological innovations DAIWA has built up over the years, or the ULTIMATECASTING DESIGN that has finally been realised and its future evolution, everything is aimed at turning the casting trajectory imagined by anglers into reality.

ULTIMATECASTING BRAKE
Unchanging superiority. Variable individuality.
A fully ‘contactless’ braking system comprising the ‘MAGFORCE’ electromagnetic induction brake and a ‘variable inductor rotor’ that moves in and out of the magnetic field in response to the Spool’s rotational speed and other factors. Precisely because it is a contactless system that does not rely on friction, it is largely unaffected by operating conditions such as submersion, rain, splashes and humidity; furthermore, as no parts are subject to wear, its performance is virtually permanent. Furthermore, it is precisely because MAGFORCE delivers such consistent braking performance that the Variable Induct Rotor can be designed to offer unique characteristics, such as suitability for lightweight lures, versatility and the ability to achieve ultra-long Long Casting distances thanks to its two-stage variable system.

ULTIMATECASTING ZERO ADJUST
Eliminate the hassle and ambiguity of setting up a secondary brake system
With DAIWA having perfected the main brake (MAGFORCE), there is no need for a secondary (mechanical) brake. Thanks to the Zero Adjuster—born from the [ZERO ADJUST] philosophy—once you have set the ‘spool play to zero’, you can handle any situation simply by adjusting the Mag Dial.

ULTIMATE CASTING LINE GUIDE
The TWS: a unique mechanism that combines the effects of reeling and flying into one.
[TWS] achieves both precise line reeling and an expanded resistance-free range during casting in one fell swoop. This mechanism ensures a smoother flow of line as it is released, dramatically improving the long-casting performance of DAIWA baitcasting reels. Furthermore, TWS is effective in preventing ‘line pile-ups’ and Backlash that previously occurred on the level wind.

ULTIMATECASTING SPOOL
High-strength, low-inertia spool made from specialised materials and using advanced processing techniques
Aluminium-based alloys are frequently used for baitcasting reel spools, and the highest-strength, top-grade variant is the G1 Duralumin employed by DAIWA. This material offers twice the strength of magnesium and 1.3 times that of ultra-high-strength Duralumin; when used for spools and designed with strength as the primary criterion, it enables the achievement of exceptional lightness. However, high-precision machining of G1 Duralumin requires advanced manufacturing techniques. It is essential that the material can be designed and machined to an extremely thin profile in order to capitalise on its inherent rigidity and translate it into lightness.

New TWS model
With the aim of reducing line release resistance when casting—in other words, ‘expanding the resistance-free range’—we have made improvements to our unique TWS technology.
DAIWA baitcasting reels utilise different TWS systems tailored to each spool size. The TWS for this new spool size (pictured left) incorporates a newly developed tapered shape.
A comparison of the line guides—with and without a tapered shape—in the new TWS size resulted in a 27 per cent increase in the opening. When compared with the TWS fitted to the 16STEEZ SV TW (pictured right), the opening was increased by 16 per cent despite the reduced width. In addition to expanding the resistance-free range, we have sought to maximise line-release performance through a synergistic effect with the special ‘DLC’ surface treatment.
Based on the results of distance tests comparing models with and without a tapered shape, a maximum increase in distance of 4.9 per cent was achieved (with a 7g weight).
DAIWA continues to refine even its unique technologies, whilst constantly striving to achieve a casting feel that makes you ‘want to cast again and again’.

G1 Duralumin Spool
G1 duralumin is a special aluminium-based alloy that offers twice the strength of magnesium and 1.3 times that of ultra-high-strength duralumin. This material, which combines ultra-lightweight properties with excellent rigidity, is the highest grade of lightweight alloy used in applications such as aircraft structural components and precision equipment.
To achieve an exceptionally lightweight feel whilst maintaining the same strength, it is possible to retain sufficient strength simply by reducing the wall thickness of the spool’s line-winding surface, without resorting to blanking. The superior rotational response afforded by its lightness, combined with the unrivalled precision of its rotation thanks to its high rigidity, is second to none.

Zero Shaft
The spool is supported solely by the BB. The shaftless design eliminates all excess resistance, resulting in ideal spool rotation.
In short, it is the cornerstone of a high-output engine designed to prioritise casting performance above all else.

Oil Injection Cap
In line with the sub-brake-less specification, the zero adjuster has been discontinued. The 24STEEZ SV TW is fitted with an oil injection cap.
The cap can be removed using the specialised tool provided. Removing the cap allows for lubrication and maintenance of the pinion ball bearing.

Shin-design Star Drag
Designed to optimise manoeuvrability, it features a new star drag design (pictured right). This is a slimmer version of the conventional star drag design (pictured left). Even the ratchet mechanism has been redesigned. Meticulous attention has been paid to the sound of each click during adjustment, resulting in a crisp, distinct clicking sound that is clearly audible with each small adjustment.
Drag-and-drop click
In pursuit of high drag performance for landing big fish, we aimed to be number one in our class not only in terms of maximum drag but also in terms of smooth operation that adapts to the fish’s pull.
It also features a drag-release click mechanism. By alerting the angler with an audible signal when the line system is pushed to its absolute limit during a sudden run by a fish, it provides the angler with a significant advantage.
