To prevent twisting that occurs during actions such as casting, retrieving, hooking and fighting, many years of research have led to the conclusion that, in addition to conventional structures (0° and 90° relative to the rod tip), reeling a ‘45°’ bias cross (carbon fibres angled at ±45°, for example) is the optimal solution for preventing twisting. The incorporation of X45 prevents twisting and delivers a dramatic improvement in power, manoeuvrability and sensitivity.
AIR SENSOR SEAT
The AIR SENSOR SEAT, incorporating carbon fibre, offers a lightweight design, high strength and high sensitivity. It is specifically designed for the Rod’s intended use, delivering a level of manoeuvrability that cannot be achieved with a standard reel seat.

HVF Carbon
When it comes to carbon sheets—which have the greatest influence on rod performance—DAIWA has focused not only on enhancing the elasticity of the carbon fibres themselves, but also on the amount of resin used to bind them together. ‘High-Density HVF Carbon’, which reduces the amount of resin—which could be described as ‘excess’—and instead increases the density of the carbon fibres, is more muscular and powerful. It is the ideal material for rods designed to prioritise stickiness and strength.

My first impression upon picking up the ‘OUTRAGE BR’—the little brother to the ‘OUTRAGE’ offshore rod—was that it’s light and looks brilliant!!
This is a basic, excellent-value offshore rod that’s perfect for anyone thinking of taking up offshore fishing.
Firstly, as regards the Jigging model, based on my experience using it for the late-autumn Goto yellowtail game, it is incredibly light and easy to Jig.
The first hurdle faced by anyone trying jigging for the first time is undoubtedly fatigue, but the lightweight Air Sensor Seat and the longer grip end—which makes it easier to tuck under your arm—help prevent fatigue from building up. Furthermore, whilst jigging, the rod’s suppleness comes into its own, and once a fish is hooked, the power in the Rod Butt means that, on this trip, I was able to land a 12-kilo yellowtail amberjack and a 9-kilo yellowtail by relying on the rod’s resilience. The casting model is designed to strike a balance that allows for comfortable performance in every situation—whether casting, manoeuvring Lures or fighting fish. On this trip, despite being a #5 power rod, I was able to land a 16-kilogram yellowtail amberjack with ease. The Light Casting (LC) model is ideal for targeting popular species such as Spanish mackerel and bonito, which have gained popularity in recent years. It perfectly fills the gap between casting rods—which are too stiff—and Sea Bass rods—which are too flexible. It is also ideal for fast retrieves with MINNOWs, as well as for small tungsten jigs such as TG Baits and blade Jigging.
