The EMERALDAS X, a standard model designed specifically for Squid Fishing（Eging），has been revamped with enhanced core performance and handling!

The previous model, the 19EMERALDAS, was well received as an entry-level model for Squid Fishing, featuring the EMERALDAS design and delivering high basic performance.
In this model, the rotor material has been upgraded from DS4 to ZAION V, achieving both weight reduction and increased rigidity. Furthermore, the adoption of the AIRDRIVE DESIGN has improved weight balance, thereby reducing the sensation of heaviness in the rod. Reducing this sensation of heaviness during Squid Fishing—which involves repeated jigging and reeling—enables a high level of manoeuvrability, allowing the angler to control the egi precisely as intended.
Furthermore, the inclusion of the AIRDRIVE ROTOR—which has a shape as if cut from a sphere—and the AIRDRIVE BAIL, featuring an angled design, helps to minimise line tangles.

The drag system utilises the ATD TYPE-L, which offers improved initial response. Whilst the main line used for Squid Fishing has become increasingly fine—now at PE 0.6—the ATD TYPE-L enables rapid landing of fish even with such fine line and helps prevent line breaks, providing peace of mind during actual fishing.

Featuring the ‘EMERALDAS Green’ that symbolises the EMERALDAS design, it pairs beautifully with EMERALDAS Rods and offers a design that gives you a real sense of ownership.

AIRDRIVE DESIGN

The AIRDRIVE DESIGN is a next-generation spinning reel design philosophy that pursues the ability for anglers to manoeuvre Lures precisely as they wish. The AIRDRIVE DESIGN comprises up to four technologies. It requires the incorporation of an AIRDRIVE ROTOR, which ensures smooth reeling and produces highly responsive rotation, alongside a lightweight, trouble-free AIRDRIVE BAIL, a thin-walled AIRDRIVE SPOOL, which has been stripped of all unnecessary material to the absolute limit to achieve maximum lightness; and the AIRDRIVE SHAFT, which supports the main shaft with high-precision bushings and features a non-contact design with the pinion gear, enabling smooth, quiet reeling with minimal rotational noise even under heavy loads. The synergistic effect of these components, combined with improved weight balance within the reel, delivers a high level of manoeuvrability.

AIRDRIVE ROTOR

Based on our proprietary theory, we have devised a new shape that appears as though it has been cut directly from a sphere; by then thoroughly trimming away all unnecessary material, we have achieved a significant reduction in weight whilst maintaining rigidity. The ease of reeling has improved dramatically, leading to enhanced manoeuvrability and sensitivity.

AIRDRIVE BAIL

The wire-type AIRDRIVE BAIL has been adopted. To reduce the weight of the rotor unit, significant weight savings have been achieved whilst maintaining the strength required for fishing. The reduced weight of the rotor unit, including the bail, contributes to a significant reduction in rotational inertia. This has refined the rotational response and improved manoeuvrability. A new design has also been adopted for the arm lever section, significantly reducing line tangles.

ATD TYPE-L

The ATD operates smoothly in response to the fish’s pull and maintains a consistent drag. The ATD TYPE-L offers enhanced initial response. Designed to prioritise smooth engagement and tracking, it allows you to concentrate on the fight without worrying about drag settings.

ZAION V

Making reels lighter and stronger. The Zion V was developed precisely for this purpose using a carbon hybrid resin. By meticulously controlling the proportion of carbon in the hybrid composition, it achieves a high level of lightweight performance that surpasses that of metal, whilst offering strength on a par with metal. It also boasts the versatility to be fitted to a wide range of reels, thereby embodying the very essence of Zion—which can be described as the ‘MAX spec’ of carbon hybrid resin.

MAGSEALED

DAIWA’s unique waterproof design creates a barrier of magnetic oil between the body and the rotor to prevent the ingress of seawater, dust and other contaminants.

LC-ABS (Long Cast ABS)

Whilst retaining the ABS II design philosophy of reducing contact resistance, the contacts have been moved forward to achieve smoother line release. As the ring section protrudes further forward, the line is less likely to ride up onto the ring; this has resulted in a cast distance increase of approximately 5 per cent compared to the conventional ABS II, whilst also improving reliability. A next-generation ABS spool that delivers LC (LONG CAST).

TOUGH DIGIGEAR

To withstand harsh conditions, a reel needs a robust core to support it. ‘TOUGH DIGIGEAR’ ensures smoother rotation for longer.

Perfect line stopper

A new-design line stopper compatible with both fine lines, such as PE, and thicker lines, such as Leaders. Its horizontal shape saves space in the vertical direction and also helps to reduce the weight of the spool.

EVA power round knob

Features the ‘EVA power round knob’, ideal for Squid Fishing（Eging）.
Made from EVA for a comfortable grip and slip-resistant finish. As it is made from black EVA, any squid ink that gets on it is less likely to show.

LT2500-XH	A combination of high gear ratio and a single handle. The lighter weight of the reel, achieved through the single handle design, reduces fatigue during Squid Fishing (Eging) all day long, allowing you to concentrate on your fishing. The high gear ratio, enabling 87 cm of reeling per handle turn, ensures a swift and efficient retrieval of the squid jig.
LT2500-DH	A combination of standard gear ratio and a double handle. The double handle helps to suppress unexpected handle movement after jigging the egi. Combined with the standard gear ratio, this enables precise line control and allows you to manoeuvre the egi exactly as you wish.
LT2500-XH-DH	A combination of high gear ratio and a double handle. The high gear ratio, enabling 87 cm of reeling per handle turn, ensures a smooth and efficient retrieve. Equipped with a double handle, this model suppresses unexpected handle movements, allowing you to manoeuvre the egi exactly as you wish.
