DAIWA Technology

HYPERDRIVE DESIGN
A next-generation design philosophy for Bait (two-axis) reels, which significantly raises the standard of all fundamental performance characteristics with the aim of ensuring that high initial performance is sustained over the long term. The Hyper Drive Design comprises up to four technologies. It requires the incorporation of the HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR, which ensures smooth rotation over the long term, alongside HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT, which assists gear drive to deliver powerful yet effortless winding. The HYPER ARMED HOUSING provides robust internal structural support, making it resistant to flexing and distortion. The HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH features an insulated structure that ensures continuous operation even in harsh environments, whilst drastically reducing seizure caused by salt build-up. The synergistic effect of these features ensures consistently stable performance across all fishing environments.
HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR
A newly designed gear system engineered to ensure consistently strong and smooth rotation. This is DAIWA’s proprietary technology, which achieves long-lasting initial smoothness by increasing the meshing ratio without reducing the module (size) of the gear teeth—a factor directly linked to durability.
HYPER ARMED HOUSING (AL)
A case system that firmly supports the internal structure with high rigidity and precision, delivering a refined winding feel and power. The use of metal for the frame—the core component—is essential, and its combination with the side plates and set plates ensures that the fundamental performance is maintained over the long term.
This model utilises aluminium for the frame and gear-side side plates, resulting in a Tough housing design capable of withstanding high-power play.
HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH
Not only does it offer crisp on-off performance capable of enduring thousands, even tens of thousands, of sliding cycles, but it is also a clutch system that experiences extremely few problems even in seawater with high salinity. Its cutting-edge insulation structure has already achieved a 99 per cent reduction in the number of repairs for seizing in harsh saltwater environments, compared to our previous models.
MAGFORCE
The fixed inductor rotor, which forms the basis of DAIWA’s non-contact electromagnetic induction brakes.
Of all the non-contact electromagnetic induction brakes that DAIWA has been refining since 1982, the MAGFORCE boasts the simplest design. This braking system utilises the eddy currents generated when an inductor rotor rotates within a magnetic field, as well as the principle of electromagnetic induction whereby a force acts in the opposite direction to the rotation. The inductor rotor is fixed, ensuring that the braking force, set via the dial, remains consistently stable. It is fitted to certain reels where this feature is considered an advantage.
TWS (T-WING SYSTEM)
TWS has succeeded in significantly reducing resistance at the line guide closest to the spool—the point where spool rotation speed is at its highest. By minimising resistance that impedes casting distance, it not only improves casting distance and control beyond previous levels, but also enables a faster fall and reduces Backlash. This realises a new level of line winding capability not only during reeling but also during the casting action.
LC-Concept
Its appeal lies in its Long Casting performance and the exhilarating feel of the cast.
A brake concept that excels in Long Casting, enabling greater casting distance in the latter half of the cast. It is particularly well-suited to medium and heavy lures, with casting distance increasing the more sharply you swing the Rod through. The sporty and exhilarating casting feel is also a major attraction of the LC Concept.
ZERO ADJUSTER
By first adjusting the ‘ZERO ADJUSTER’ and setting the ‘Spool Play Zero’ function, the evolution of the magnetic brake system now makes it possible to control all lures using the magnet dial alone.
The ‘ZERO ADJUSTER’ is a mechanism designed to ensure you can enjoy a comfortable fishing experience without any malfunctions whilst fishing, by adjusting it to the ‘zero setting’ before you start fishing.
*The ‘Zero Spool Play’ setting refers to the setting at which the spool is held just at the limit of not being pressed, whilst retaining a slight amount of play (approximately 0.2 mm).
UTD (Ultimate Tournament Drag)
DAIWA’s drag system eliminates the initial hesitation when the drag first engages, delivering smooth, consistent performance without any jerking, whilst also offering maximum Drag Force that increases the tighter it is set.

Fitted with a φ38mm (24mm wide) spool made from ultra-high-strength duralumin. Improves spool response and castability. Delivers stable Long Casting performance for plug-type and hard lures, including big baits.
100mm aluminium crank handle + fitted with the new high-grip I-shape Power Large Knob
Characterised by its moderate thickness and excellent grip, it helps ensure comfortable reeling.
New TWS model designed exclusively for the 200 size (tapered shape + optimised width of the line’s thread passage)
The long-awaited model featuring TWS technology, designed to prevent knots from snagging on heavy-duty lines. A specially designed TWS system has been developed to improve line release capacity, whilst also ensuring compatibility with thick Fluoro and PE lines.
For targeting monster fish with big and giant baits.
Also suitable for salt water use. Significantly expands the line’s resistance-free range. This results in greater casting distance, improved control, a faster fall rate and fewer backlashes. TWS enhances all the fundamental performance characteristics of baitcasting reels.

■ Features the new TWS
It features a newly designed tapered TWS system that further improves line flow during casting.
In a comparison with the TWS fitted as standard on the Φ34mm spool, the opening was found to be approximately 36 per cent larger.

With the previous TWS model, it was observed that the Leader knot sometimes struggled to pass through the line guide section, particularly when using Futoshi PE line; consequently, the new TWS model features a tapered design and a wider internal line guide channel.
DAIWA continues to refine even its ‘One-of-a-Kind’ technology, whilst constantly striving to achieve a casting feel that makes you ‘want to cast again and again’.
*Please note that, to avoid any problems, we recommend ensuring that the tied section extends beyond the Rod guides.

The thrill of the cast flying off into the distance.

It feels as though the line has snapped and the lure is flying off on its own. I wonder if that makes sense.
Having used the TATULA TW 300 and TW 400 extensively, these are my first impressions of the TW 200. The casting feel is completely different. There’s no resistance as the spool turns, nor any loss of speed due to the brake… or rather, these sensations have been virtually eliminated.
Although the internal structure of the TW200 is essentially the same as that of the HYPERDRIVE DESIGN and other models, I’m amazed at just how different it feels. Perhaps the more compact size has created a ‘golden ratio’ that isn’t apparent from the figures alone. This is definitely something you’ll want to experience for yourself.
Going forward, whenever I’m casting big or giant baits frequently, I reckon the TW 200—with its nimble handling—will come into its own. With a generous line capacity of 25lb × 100m, it’s the perfect size to pair with MH or H-power rods. Its versatile specifications mean it can serve as my go-to reel for all kinds of power-based bass fishing.
Morizo Shimizu

It felt just right to use – I wanted one straight away.

I’ve been using the 300 and 400 sizes with large swimbaits and lures up until now, but I always felt they were a bit on the large side. However, this new 200 size is just right.
It casts nicely with spinnerbaits, 3/4oz braided swim jigs, and deep crankbaits. It works well with the 1/2oz versions of each too, and I reckon it’d be fine for big baits up to the 2–3oz class as well. Up until now, I’ve been using the 300 size for medium to large big baits, but the 200 size covers that range just as well.
TATULA has a solid basic structure, so there’s no problem at all.
When you hold it in your palm, it doesn’t feel too big. It performs well during reeling, too. The first time I used it, I wanted one straight away. The TATULA was always a cool reel, but now that it’s been around for over ten years, its performance has improved even further, the range has expanded, and it’s incredibly user-friendly. Apart from specialised fishing styles like bottom fishing, I reckon I could say that with just the 100 and 200 sizes, I’d be covered for almost all my fishing.
