Unrivalled, all-round bait finesse performance.

The ‘SS MAGFORCE’, designed to further enhance bait finesse performance, is finally joining the ALPHAS series.
A high-standard bait finesse rod that combines an unprecedented low trajectory with long-distance castability and smooth spinning performance, whilst maintaining a solid, compact design.
A key feature is the newly fitted φ30mm bait finesse spool made from G1 duralumin.
Thanks to the synergistic effect with SS MAGFORCE, the spool weight is comparable to that of an ultra-small-diameter φ28mm AIR spool. The ‘SS MAGFORCE’ brake system—which even overcomes the disadvantages of larger-diameter spools—maximises spool performance, allowing you to experience a unique casting feel achieved by maximising line release with TWS. It will guide many bait finesse anglers towards new frontiers.

Although this series excels in finesse performance, the essence of a baitcasting reel—which is always designed to target big fish—remains unchanged. As a next-generation bait finesse reel capable of handling even the toughest conditions, it incorporates the ‘HYPERDRIVE DESIGN’ philosophy at the heart of bait reel design. It is designed for use not only in fresh water but also in salt water. The all-metal body utilises an aluminium alloy for the main frame, the gear-side side plate and the dial-side set plate, achieving a balance of lightness and rigidity. It also features the long-awaited click-adjustable drag.

The Palming series has achieved an exceptionally compact design through further thinning. Its casting accuracy, manoeuvrability and comfortable fit—which feels as though it moulds to the hand—enhance tackle handling, whilst the stability of the casting form and the feel of the Rod’s swing ensure it consistently supports anglers as they adapt to ever-changing conditions. Even the Mag Dial has been thoroughly tested to ensure flawless functional beauty, aiming to balance ease of adjustment through a larger diameter with the prevention of accidental operation.
Designed for use across a variety of fishing environments, the reel is available in two gear ratios. The 6.3 gear ratio assists with the straight-line tracking and stable retrieval of not only worms but also small plugs, Shads and ultra-small I-shaped plugs. The 8.5 gear ratio supports unerringly precise, low-trajectory casting and rapid casting turnover through line slack control with all types of finesse lures, such as Nail Sinkers and small jig heads. Bait finesse is now in rock-solid hands.

DAIWA Technology

HYPERDRIVE DESIGN
A next-generation design philosophy for Bait (two-axis) reels, which significantly raises the standard of all fundamental performance characteristics with the aim of ensuring that high initial performance is sustained over the long term. The Hyper Drive Design comprises up to four technologies. It requires the incorporation of the HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR, which ensures smooth rotation over the long term, alongside HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT, which assists gear drive to deliver powerful yet effortless winding. The HYPER ARMED HOUSING provides robust internal structural support, making it resistant to flexing and distortion. The HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH features an insulated structure that ensures continuous operation even in harsh environments, whilst drastically reducing seizure caused by salt build-up. The synergistic effect of these features ensures consistently stable performance across all fishing environments.
HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR
A newly designed gear system engineered to ensure consistently strong and smooth rotation. This is DAIWA’s proprietary technology, which achieves long-lasting initial smoothness by increasing the meshing ratio without reducing the module (size) of the gear teeth—a factor directly linked to durability.
HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT
A drive support system that ensures sustained smoothness whilst delivering winding power with effortless reeling. By supporting both ends of the pinion gear with two ball bearings to ensure high precision, it does not dampen the input from the handle, enabling powerful yet effortless winding even under load.
HYPER ARMED HOUSING (FULL AL)
A case system that firmly supports the internal structure with high rigidity and precision, delivering a refined winding feel and power. The use of metal for the frame—the core component—is essential; combined with the side plates and set plates, this ensures that the fundamental performance is maintained over the long term.
In this series, aluminium alloy is used for the frame, the gear-side side plate and the dial-side set plate. It features a full-metal housing design that ensures sufficient strength.
HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH
Not only does it offer crisp on-off performance capable of enduring thousands, even tens of thousands, of sliding cycles, but it is also a clutch system that experiences extremely few problems even in seawater with high salinity. Its cutting-edge insulation structure has already achieved a 99 per cent reduction in the number of repairs for seizing in harsh saltwater environments, compared to our previous models.
ULTIMATECASTING DESIGN
Bringing your imagined casting trajectory to life.

In order to realise the ‘ULTIMATECASTING DESIGN’ that DAIWA has been pursuing for many years, it was necessary to bring together the four elements that significantly influence castability and to maximise the performance of each to the absolute limit.
These features—including the ‘world’s first from DAIWA’, the electromagnetic induction brake [MAGFORCE + variable inductance rotor], as well as [TWS], [G1 duralumin spool] and [ZERO ADJUST]—are all based on DAIWA’s proprietary technology and concepts.
Whether it be the technological innovations DAIWA has built up over the years, or the ULTIMATECASTING DESIGN that has finally been realised and its future evolution, everything is aimed at turning the casting trajectory imagined by anglers into reality.
ULTIMATECASTING ZERO ADJUST
Eliminate the hassle and ambiguity of setting up a secondary brake system

With DAIWA having perfected the main brake (MAGFORCE), there is no need for a secondary (mechanical) brake. Thanks to the Zero Adjuster—born from the [ZERO ADJUST] philosophy—once you have set the ‘spool play to zero’, you can handle any situation simply by adjusting the Mag Dial.
ULTIMATE CASTING LINE GUIDE
The TWS: a unique mechanism that combines the effects of reeling and flying into one.

[TWS] achieves both precise line reeling and an expanded resistance-free range during casting in one fell swoop. This mechanism ensures a smoother flow of line as it is released, dramatically improving the long-casting performance of DAIWA baitcasting reels. Furthermore, TWS is effective in preventing ‘line pile-ups’ and Backlash that previously occurred on the level wind.
ULTIMATECASTING BRAKE
Unchanging superiority. Variable individuality.

A fully ‘contactless’ braking system comprising the ‘MAGFORCE’ electromagnetic induction brake and a ‘variable inductance rotor’ that enters and exits the magnetic field in response to the Spool’s rotational speed and other factors. Precisely because it is a contactless system that does not rely on friction, it is largely unaffected by operating conditions such as submersion, rain, splashes and humidity; furthermore, as no parts are subject to wear, its performance is virtually permanent. Furthermore, it is precisely because MAGFORCE provides such consistent braking performance that the Variable Inductor Rotor can be designed to offer unique characteristics, such as suitability for lightweight Lures and versatility.
ULTIMATECASTING SPOOL
High-strength, low-inertia spool made from specialised materials and using advanced processing techniques

Aluminium-based alloys are frequently used for baitcasting reel spools, and the highest-strength, top-grade variant is the G1 Duralumin employed by DAIWA. This material offers twice the strength of magnesium and 1.3 times that of ultra-high-strength Duralumin; when used for spools and designed with strength as the primary criterion, it enables the achievement of exceptional lightness. However, high-precision machining of G1 Duralumin requires advanced manufacturing techniques. It is essential that the material can be designed and machined to an extremely thin profile in order to capitalise on its inherent rigidity and translate it into lightness.
TWS (T-WING SYSTEM)
TWS has succeeded in significantly reducing resistance at the line guide closest to the spool—the point where spool rotation speed is at its highest. By minimising resistance that impedes casting distance, it not only improves casting distance and control beyond previous levels, but also enables a faster fall and reduces Backlash. This realises a new level of line winding capability not only during reeling but also during the casting action.
BF-Concept
Thanks to its easy-set mechanism, you can cast even ‘ultra’ lightweight lures with ease. Ideal for ultra-lightweight lures, a sharp flick of the Rod during pitching sends the lure flying along a low trajectory with a satisfying feel, whilst even with standard casting, it achieves a casting distance that is on a par with—if not better than—that of a spinning reel. Another major feature of the ‘DAIWA BF’ is its ability to alternate between pitching and casting without the need to readjust the drag.
Equipped with a BF spool designed specifically for finesse fishing to maximise finesse performance. To accommodate ultra-light lures, it features an ultra-lightweight design and micro BB bearings. Not only does this allow for the effortless handling of smaller, lighter lures, but it also enables ‘longer casts and a softer splash-down’. A powerful weapon for securing that extra catch, even in tough conditions.
SS MAGFORCE
A revolutionary design for the variable-inductance rotor—pioneering the field of bait finesse.
Developed with the aim of achieving ‘even lower-inertia spools’—a previously unexplored realm—the NEW magnetic brake structure is the SS MAGFORCE. Its casting performance is characterised by resilience in adverse conditions and the versatility to suit a wide range of anglers and diverse situations. Thanks to the spool’s instantaneous rotational response, lures cast with a compact swing trace a low, smooth trajectory to pinpoint the intended spot.
ZERO SHAFT
The spool is supported solely by the BB. The shaftless design eliminates all excess resistance, resulting in ideal spool rotation.
In short, it is the cornerstone of a high-output engine designed to prioritise casting performance above all else.
UTD (Ultimate Tournament Drag)
DAIWA’s drag system eliminates the initial hesitation when the drag first engages, delivering smooth, consistent performance without any jerking, whilst also offering maximum Drag Force that increases the tighter it is set.

Product Details

φ30 mm G1 duralumin Bait finesse Spool
The first-ever φ30mm G1 duralumin bait finesse spool designed exclusively for the SS MAGFORCE.
In order to surpass the conventional 28 mm AIR spool—which had already been refined to the point where no further weight reduction was possible—we undertook a major redesign of the inductor rotor shape, an area that had previously been off-limits, as part of the transition to the SS MAGFORCE model.
As a result, whilst the spool fitted to the 25ALPHAS BF TW series has been increased from φ28 mm to φ30 mm, the weight of the spool unit itself has remained virtually unchanged.
SS MAGFORCE (Simple & Swift MAGFORCE)
A new braking system that delivers comfortable, low-trajectory casting performance with a compact swing.
A design specifically developed for finesse fishing, which has completely re-examined the conventional structure to achieve dramatic weight reduction and low Inertia.
We have minimised dead space within the side plate and the Spool unit to the absolute minimum in pursuit of a more compact design.
It allows you to cast with ease and minimal effort, enabling you to achieve even greater casting accuracy than before.
The adoption of the SS MAGFORCE design has led to a reduction in dead space compared to the previous structure, resulting in side plates that are 6 per cent thinner than those of the 20ALPHAS AIR TW. The design has been revamped to be more compact and easier to grip.
KTF Development Cooperation
Developed in collaboration with Mr Yukihiro Sawamura, representative of K.T.F. A pioneer who has championed the effectiveness of bait finesse since the mid-2000s, he remains at the forefront of tournaments both at home and abroad as ‘Mr Bait Finesse’. This is engraved on the presentation box as a testament to the lure’s superior bait finesse performance.
Oil Injection Cap
Removing the oil injection cap allows oil to be injected into the ball bearings in the Pinion assembly.
*When carrying out maintenance, please ensure you use the dedicated tool supplied to remove the cap. Furthermore, when refitting the oil injection cap, please adjust it so that there is no play in the Spool before use.
Please refer to the user manual for further details.
Drag-and-drop click
It features the much-requested drag-and-drop click function.
A ‘drag click’ is a mechanism that emits a clicking sound to indicate when the drag is engaging as the line is pulled out during a fight with a Fish. It is one of the essential features for gaining the upper hand when using fine line.

*The reel capacity shown in this table is the maximum value. We recommend that you do not reel more than 45 metres of any line onto the spool before use.
*This product has been configured to deliver comfortable performance when loaded with the recommended reel capacity.
*If you are reeling more line than the recommended reel capacity, please ensure that you do not exceed the maximum reeling limit when reeling the line.
*When using PE line at the maximum reel capacity, problems are more likely to occur if the line floats during casting.
Specifically, there is a risk that the line may become caught in the gap between the frame and the spool, or that Backlash may occur.
We recommend either readjusting the brake so that the line does not float, or using the reel with a reduced reel capacity.
*The reel capacity is a guide only and may vary depending on the manufacturer, items and line tension.
*The retrieve length is the amount of line wound in with each handle rotation.
