Fitted with a φ30 mm ultra-high-strength duralumin BF spool designed exclusively for the TATULA. Mr Sawamura of K.T.F. was involved in the development of the brake system. The appeal of this reel lies in its ability to adapt to any casting style with just a single adjustment of the Mag Dial. Through synergy with the TWS system, it delivers outstanding casting accuracy, allowing the line to be released without losing speed and smoothly delivering the lure along a low trajectory to the intended target. It is suitable for a wide range of lures, from light rigs—primarily small soft lures and no-sinker setups—to small hard baits. Featuring ‘HYPERDRIVE DESIGN’, which ensures that initial rotational performance is sustained over the long term, the reel utilises an aluminium alloy for the frame and gear side plates. It supports anglers with smooth rotation and rigidity, providing a reassuringly solid feel even under high loads. Drag performance has also been refined, incorporating a click-adjustable drag system. With this rock-solid build, it is ready to take on BIG BASS.

DAIWA Technology

HYPERDRIVE DESIGN

A next-generation design philosophy for Bait (two-axis) reels, which significantly raises the standard of all fundamental performance characteristics with the aim of ensuring that high initial performance is sustained over the long term. The Hyper Drive Design comprises up to four technologies. It requires the incorporation of the HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR, which ensures smooth rotation over the long term, alongside HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT, which assists gear drive to deliver powerful yet effortless winding. The HYPER ARMED HOUSING provides robust internal structural support, making it resistant to flexing and distortion. The HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH features an insulated structure that ensures continuous operation even in harsh environments, whilst drastically reducing seizure caused by salt build-up. The synergistic effect of these features ensures consistently stable performance across all fishing environments.

HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR

A newly designed gear system engineered to ensure consistently strong and smooth rotation. This is DAIWA’s proprietary technology, which achieves long-lasting initial smoothness by increasing the meshing ratio without reducing the module (size) of the gear teeth—a factor directly linked to durability.

HYPER ARMED HOUSING

A case system that firmly supports the internal structure with high rigidity and precision, delivering a smooth winding action and powerful performance. The use of metal for the frame—the core component—is essential; combined with the side plates and set plates, this ensures that the fundamental performance is maintained over the long term.

HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH

Not only does it offer crisp on-off performance capable of enduring thousands, even tens of thousands, of sliding cycles, but it is also a clutch system that experiences extremely few problems even in seawater with high salinity. Its cutting-edge insulation structure has already achieved a 99 per cent reduction in the number of repairs for seizing in harsh saltwater environments, compared to our previous models.

BF-Concept

Thanks to its easy-set mechanism, you can cast even ‘ultra’ lightweight lures with ease. Ideal for ultra-lightweight lures, a sharp flick of the Rod during pitching sends the lure flying along a low trajectory with a satisfying feel, whilst even with standard casting, it achieves a casting distance that is on a par with—if not better than—that of a spinning reel. Another major feature of the ‘DAIWA BF’ is its ability to alternate between pitching and casting without the need to readjust the drag.

Equipped with a BF spool designed specifically for finesse fishing to maximise finesse performance. To accommodate ultra-light lures, it features an ultra-light spool and micro BB bearings. Not only does this allow for the effortless handling of smaller, lighter lures, but it also enables ‘longer casts and a softer splash-down’. A powerful weapon for securing that extra catch, even in the toughest of conditions.

TWS (T-WING SYSTEM)

TWS has succeeded in significantly reducing resistance at the line guide closest to the spool—the point where spool rotation speed is at its highest. By minimising resistance that impedes casting distance, it not only improves casting distance and control beyond previous levels, but also enables a faster fall and reduces Backlash. This realises a new level of line winding capability not only during reeling but also during the casting action.

UTD (Ultimate Tournament Drag)

DAIWA’s drag system eliminates the initial hesitation when the drag first engages, delivering smooth, consistent performance without any jerking, whilst also offering maximum Drag Force that increases the tighter it is set.

ZERO ADJUSTER

By first adjusting the ‘ZERO ADJUSTER’ and setting the ‘Spool Play Zero’ function, the evolution of the magnetic brake system now makes it possible to control all lures using the magnet dial alone.
The ‘ZERO ADJUSTER’ is a mechanism designed to ensure you can enjoy a comfortable fishing experience without any malfunctions whilst fishing, by adjusting it to the ‘zero setting’ before you start fishing.
*The ‘Zero Spool Play’ setting refers to the setting at which the spool is held just at the limit of not being pressed, whilst retaining a slight amount of play (approximately 0.2 mm).

It achieves a high level of balance between pitching and casting—the two most important techniques when practising bait finesse fishing. It ensures a stress-free and comfortable fishing experience at the same brake dial setting.

HYPER ARMED HOUSING

Aluminium is used for the body components (frame and gearbox side plates). By keeping the overall body compact, a Tough design has been achieved that feels surprisingly light.

Development in collaboration with K.T.F.

Developed in collaboration with Mr Yukihiro Sawamura, representative of K.T.F. A pioneer who has championed the effectiveness of bait finesse since the mid-2000s, he remains at the forefront of tournaments both at home and abroad and is known as ‘Mr Bait Finesse’. This is engraved on the presentation box as a testament to the lure’s superior bait finesse performance.

Drag-and-drop click

Equipped with a drag release click mechanism. This mechanism emits a click so that the angler can hear when the drag engages as the line is pulled out during a fight with a fish. It is an essential feature for gaining the upper hand when using fine line.

*If you are reeling more line than the recommended reel capacity, please ensure that you do not exceed the maximum reeling limit when reeling the line.
*When using PE line at the maximum reel capacity, problems are more likely to occur if the line floats during casting.
Specifically, there is a risk that the line may become caught in the gap between the frame and the spool, or that Backlash may occur.
