Twenty years after the launch of the first LUVIAS, the sixth-generation LUVIAS is unveiled.
Featuring a ZAION body and ZAION rotor, it achieves a high level of both lightness and rigidity—two seemingly conflicting characteristics.
Furthermore, the adoption of AIRDRIVE DESIGN has refined the handling, enabling you to manoeuvre the Lure exactly as you wish.
Driven by our desire to make LUVIAS available to more anglers, we have added 5000-size items to our range, creating a line-up suitable for a wide variety of fishing styles.
The design was tailored to the specific application, utilising the most suitable materials for components such as the drag mechanism, the main shaft and the special surface treatment applied to the drive gear.

DAIWA Technology

AIRDRIVE DESIGN

The AIRDRIVE DESIGN is a next-generation spinning reel design philosophy that pursues the ability for anglers to manoeuvre Lures precisely as they wish. The AIRDRIVE DESIGN comprises up to four technologies. It requires the incorporation of an AIRDRIVE ROTOR, which ensures smooth reeling and produces highly responsive rotation, alongside a lightweight, trouble-free AIRDRIVE BAIL, a thin-walled AIRDRIVE SPOOL, which has been stripped of all unnecessary material to the absolute limit to achieve maximum lightness; and the AIRDRIVE SHAFT, which supports the main shaft with high-precision bushings and features a non-contact design with the pinion gear, enabling smooth, quiet reeling with minimal rotational noise even under heavy loads. The synergistic effect of these components, combined with improved weight balance within the reel, delivers a high level of manoeuvrability.

*The LT model is equipped with an AIRDRIVE ROTOR, AIRDRIVE BAIL, AIRDRIVE SPOOL and AIRDRIVE SHAFT. The SF model is equipped with an AIRDRIVE ROTOR, AIRDRIVE BAIL and AIRDRIVE SPOOL. It features a linear shaft.

AIRDRIVE ROTOR

Based on our proprietary theory, we have devised a new shape that appears as though it has been cut directly from a sphere; by then thoroughly trimming away all unnecessary material, we have achieved a significant reduction in weight whilst maintaining rigidity. The ease of reeling has improved dramatically, leading to enhanced manoeuvrability and sensitivity.

AIRDRIVE BAIL

The AIRBAIL, which has traditionally utilised a hollow-pipe structure to provide rigidity and lightness, has been redesigned with a smaller diameter whilst maintaining the necessary strength, in order to achieve even greater weight reduction. The bail has been set at an optimal angle to ensure the line transitions more smoothly from the bail to the line roller. This delivers even greater lightness and trouble-free operation.

AIRDRIVE SPOOL

A thin-walled design that trims away unnecessary material to achieve the ultimate in weight reduction. Weight has been thoroughly minimised, not only through the thin-walled design of the spool skirt but also through the use of internal spool cut-outs. The lighter spool improves manoeuvrability, such as the ease of reeling and casting action. Furthermore, the low-friction drag mechanism enhances responsiveness when the drag is engaged.

AIRDRIVE SHAFT

This system features a linear shaft with a non-contact design between the main shaft and the pinion, eliminating frictional resistance entirely; furthermore, by supporting both ends of the pinion with ball bearings, it maximises the conversion of input power into rotational force. In addition, by supporting the main shaft with high-precision collars, the system thoroughly reduces rotational noise.

*SF models feature a linear shaft.

MONOCOQUE BODY

Robust and durable technology: the MONOCOQUE BODY. Conventional spinning reels typically featured a design in which the drive gear was supported at both ends by the body and the body cover, and secured in place with several screws. Aiming to further improve precision and rigidity, the MONOCOQUE BODY eliminates the body cover and instead secures a high-precision plate directly to the body by screwing it in. This has enhanced the precision with which the gears are supported, whilst also improving rigidity and airtightness. Furthermore, by utilising the space previously occupied by screws, we have succeeded in maximising the size of the drive gear to the absolute limit. The term ‘MONOCOQUE BODY’ derives from ‘MONO’ (one) and ‘COQUE’ (shell). This entirely new design, symbolising the resilience of a single-piece shell, shatters conventional wisdom regarding reel construction.

MAGSEALED

DAIWA’s unique waterproof design creates a barrier of magnetic oil between the body and the rotor to prevent the ingress of seawater, dust and other contaminants.

*The 24LUVIAS and 24LUVIAS SF models are fitted with a MAGSEALED Pinion.

ZAION

Using DAIWA’s proprietary technology, we have successfully moulded a special resin with a high density of woven carbon fibres—a material renowned for its extreme difficulty to process. This represents the pinnacle of DAIWA Carbon Material, combining astonishing lightness with exceptional strength. Only our top-of-the-range models are privileged to incorporate this performance.

*The 24LUVIAS features ZAION in both the body and the rotor.

TOUGH DIGIGEAR

To withstand harsh conditions, a reel needs a robust core to support it. ‘TOUGH DIGIGEAR’ ensures smoother rotation for longer.

ATD TYPE-L

The ATD operates smoothly in response to the fish’s pull and maintains a consistent drag. The ATD TYPE-L offers enhanced initial response. Designed to prioritise smooth engagement and tracking, it allows you to concentrate on the fight without worrying about drag settings.

*Fitted to the LT2000S-P to LT4000-XH models and the SF models.

ATD TOUGH

The ATD operates smoothly in response to the fish’s pull and maintains a consistent drag. The ATD TOUGH features carbon washers, delivering exceptional durability. Designed to prioritise smooth engagement and responsiveness, it allows you to concentrate on the fight without worrying about drag settings.

*Fitted to the 5000 model.

LC-ABS (Long Cast ABS)

Whilst retaining the ABS II design philosophy of reducing contact resistance, the contacts have been moved forward to achieve smoother line release. As the ring section protrudes further forward, the line is less likely to ride up onto the ring; this has resulted in a cast distance increase of approximately 5 per cent compared to the conventional ABS II, whilst also improving reliability. A next-generation ABS spool that delivers LC (LONG CAST).

Product Details

Body with no stoppers

The body structure has been simplified by removing the stopper. The decision to remove the stopper—which acts as a pathway for water and foreign matter to enter—not only reduces weight and improves water resistance but also minimises the risk of sudden malfunctions that might occur when fishing in the harsh conditions and whilst handling the Big One, as required of the 24LUVIAS.

EVA round light Knob (fitted to the 5000 model)

Designed for surf fishing and light shore jigging, the LT5000D-CXH comes fitted as standard with a Power Light-Type EVA knob, designed to withstand the rigours of high-intensity fishing.
The use of a round-shaped knob with high reeling torque aids reeling under heavy loads.

Perfect line stopper

A new-design line stopper compatible with both fine lines, such as PE, and thicker lines, such as Leaders. Its horizontal shape saves space in the vertical direction and also helps to reduce the weight of the Spool.

Main shaft

We considered the intended use of each item and selected the most suitable main shaft material for each application.
Items ranging from the LT2000S-P to the LT3000-H, where low weight is a key requirement, feature a lightweight aluminium main shaft.
Meanwhile, for the four items—the PC LT3000, PC LT3000-XH, LT4000-XH and LT5000D-CXH—which require greater rigidity, a main shaft made of SUS steel has been adopted. The LT4000-XH and LT5000D-CXH achieve a drag setting of 12 kg.

MC (Machine-Cut) Tough Digi Gear made from ultra-high-strength duralumin

The ultra-high-strength duralumin MC Tough Digi Gear fitted to the 24LUVIAS achieves the ideal gear design by applying high-precision machine cutting to cold-forged material that has been finished to a high strength. In particular, five items featuring medium- to large-sized bodies where the drive gear is subjected to significant loads (PC LT2500-H, LT3000-H, PC LT3000-XH, LT4000-XH and LT5000D-CXH), as well as the SF models, undergo a special surface treatment to increase the surface hardness of the gears, thereby minimising the adverse effects caused by sudden impacts.

HG-I finesse knob

Features the ‘HG-I finesse knob’, designed for delicate fishing. The lightweight, hollowed-out knob allows for reeling with minimal effort, contributing to improved reeling sensitivity. The high-grip design ensures a firm grip and comfortable hold, despite its compact and lightweight build. To further reduce weight, an integrated knob cap structure has been adopted.

*Please use a 2.5 mm hex key to remove the handle knob.

■20% improvement in drag performance
The shorter spool reduces variations in the resistance encountered when the line is released.
Furthermore, by changing the maximum Drag Force to 3 kg, the range of adjustment in the low-drag range—which is particularly important in finesse fishing—is expanded, allowing for more precise fine-tuning of the drag.

■ Distance/Swing speed: approx. 7 per cent/approx. 12 per cent increase
The combination of the SF2500SS and the STEEZ RC61L-SV ultra-light tackle set increases swing speed by approximately 12 per cent compared to existing tackle.
This improves the long-casting performance of lightweight lures. When casting to the same distance, you can cast with less effort, which also improves casting accuracy.

■Significant weight reduction
By making the body approximately 15 per cent more compact, a significant reduction in weight has been achieved (SF2500SS: 140 g, compared to 150 g for the LT2500S).

■ Sensitivity increased by approximately 16 per cent
Vibration transmission performance has been improved by designing internal components specifically for the SF model, including a reduction in the diameter of the main shaft.

* Precautions for using the SF series
1) Please do not engage in reeling the line with excessive tension.
When reeling the line, we recommend doing so at the recommended line tension. (*Recommended tension: 100g for nylon, Fluoro and ester lines; 200g for PE lines.)
Reeling the line with excessive tension can cause the spool to become misshapen or prevent it from rotating properly.

2) We recommend setting the drag to 800g or less.
Reeling the line whilst the machine is under heavy load may lead to problems such as rotational malfunctions.
Please take particular care when reeling in to free the line from snags, and when retrieving lures that have become entangled in clumps of seaweed.
Please also note that overtightening the drag knob may cause damage.

3) Although this product has been developed with nylon, Fluoro and ester lines of up to approximately 4lb, or PE lines of up to approximately No. 0.6, in mind, the strength standards are specifically designed for SF (Super Finesse) applications; please exercise caution when using it.
