A new approach to inshore Jigging.

A new, compact and robust size has been added to the Inshore Jigging Bait series!
Designed to cope with the gruelling conditions of offshore jigging—including large bluefish, bottom-dwelling fish and mid-depth fishing—the SALTIGA 10 was developed with the aim of creating an exceptionally compact and robust jigging reel. Its core performance has been refined through HYPERDRIVE DESIGN, enabling it to handle the rigours of inshore jigging. The new SALTIGA 10 has been significantly downsized whilst retaining a line capacity of 650 m of PE 1.5 or 300 m of PE 3. Furthermore, with a gear size identical to that of the 15 series, it delivers a maximum Drag Force of 11 kg at a Gear ratio of 6.3 (9 kg at a Gear ratio of 7.1). Its size ensures minimal fatigue even when palm-held, whilst still allowing anglers to forcefully subdue their target fish.

DAIWA Technology

HYPERDRIVE DESIGN

A next-generation design philosophy for Bait (two-axis) reels, which significantly raises the standard of all fundamental performance characteristics with the aim of ensuring that high initial performance is sustained over the long term. The Hyper Drive Design comprises up to four technologies. It requires the incorporation of the HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR, which ensures smooth rotation over the long term, alongside HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT, which assists gear drive to deliver powerful yet effortless winding. The HYPER ARMED HOUSING provides robust internal structural support, making it resistant to flexing and distortion. The HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH features an insulated structure that ensures continuous operation even in harsh environments, whilst drastically reducing seizure caused by salt build-up. The synergistic effect of these features ensures consistently stable performance across all fishing environments.

HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR

A newly designed gear system engineered to ensure consistently strong and smooth rotation. This is DAIWA’s proprietary technology, which achieves long-lasting initial smoothness by increasing the meshing ratio without reducing the module (size) of the gear teeth—a factor directly linked to durability.

HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT

A drive support system that ensures sustained smoothness whilst delivering winding power with effortless reeling. By supporting both ends of the pinion gear with two ball bearings to ensure high precision, it does not dampen the input from the handle, enabling powerful yet effortless winding even under load.

HYPER ARMED HOUSING (FULL AL)

A case system that firmly supports the internal structure with high rigidity and precision, delivering a refined winding feel and power. The use of metal for the frame—the core component—is essential; combined with the side plates and set plates, this ensures that the fundamental performance is maintained over the long term.

In this series, aluminium alloy is used for the gear-side side plate, the one-piece frame and the set plate. Featuring a full-aluminium housing design, it has been fully machined using the precision cutting techniques unique to round profiles, resulting in unrivalled strength and robustness.

HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH

Not only does it offer crisp on-off performance capable of enduring thousands, even tens of thousands, of sliding cycles, but it is also a clutch system that experiences extremely few problems even in seawater with high salinity. Its cutting-edge insulation structure has already achieved a 99 per cent reduction in the number of repairs for seizing in harsh saltwater environments, compared to our previous models.

MAGSEALED BALL BEARING

Using its proprietary technology, DAIWA has succeeded in becoming the first in the world to apply MAGSEALED technology to the ball bearing itself. A wall of magnetic fluid prevents water and foreign particles from entering the interior of the ball bearing, thereby significantly reducing rust, salt deposits and abnormal noises whilst maintaining the ball bearing’s inherent rotational performance.

Fitted to the pinion gear assembly. Water resistance, durability and rotational performance have been further improved.

ATD

The ATD operates smoothly in response to the fish’s pull and maintains a consistent drag. Designed to minimise slippage and ensure excellent tracking, it allows you to concentrate on the fight without having to worry about drag settings.

The 25SALTIGA 10 Series boasts a maximum drag rating of 11 kg (9 kg for the high-gear model). Thanks to its multi-plate washers and a high-rigidity gearbox that houses the drag mechanism, it achieves a high drag rating that more than meets ANGLERs’ expectations.

PERFECT DOUBLE STOPPER

In addition to the standard stopper (one-way clutch), it is fitted with a mechanical stopper—a support feature ideally suited to tough fishing conditions, ensuring you can continue fishing even if one stopper fails in an emergency.

Being able to tell from the sound when the drag engages in response to a sudden run by a fish gives the angler a significant advantage.

Thumb-Hold Frame

‘A shift in thinking: from the concept of gripping to that of finger grip’

We analysed the gripping styles of various anglers to develop a shape that fits more comfortably in the hand. We developed a ‘thumb-holding frame’ designed to facilitate thumb control whilst minimising the risk of the thumb slipping out.
Comfort has been significantly improved, taking into account the position of the thumb after the clutch is disengaged.

With a completely new way of experiencing the ‘palm grip’, it radically transforms the conventional concept of ‘gripping’.

Anodic Protection

‘Unrivalled durability that never fades.’

Anodic protection is a technique used to mitigate metal corrosion. Also known as a sacrificial anode, it works by having the anode (zinc) corrode in place of the metal. By incorporating this technology into the reel, the aim was to concentrate corrosion on the anode plate and thereby maintain durability.

The SALTIGA 10-SJ series features carbon-fibre crank handle arms. Its high sensitivity and lightweight design improve the balance of the tackle.
The 5 mm-thick construction ensures high rigidity. This allows you to perform reeling without any flex, even during powerful jerks or when fighting large fish.

‘An unbeatable grip’

The T-shaped power knob is designed to provide a comfortable fit when gripped or held in the hand, and to accommodate various thumb positions, ensuring comfortable handling during jerking and reeling.

For techniques such as one-pitch jigging, we have meticulously optimised the thickness of the shaft to make it easier to grip and jig. During the lift phase of slow jigging, the firm grip ensures a steady, wobble-free jigging action.

Suitable for a wide range of techniques, from inshore Jigging to slow Jigging.

Spool lock mechanism

‘A line-cutting function that excels in Jigging’

A mechanism for securing the spool firmly in place and locking it against reverse rotation.
When freeing a snag, pulling too hard can damage not only the line but also the gears and ball bearings. However, by using the spool lock mechanism, you can disengage the spool from the pinion gear, allowing you to cut the line without damaging the gears or ball bearings.

It’s easy to use.
1. Move the spool lock lever to the ‘On’ position.
2. Disengage the clutch.
3. In this position, apply tension for the first time and cut the pull line.
The key is to ensure that the spool and pinion gear are disengaged.

‘Spool size designed specifically for inshore bait jigging’

A spool with a diameter of 48 mm, even smaller than that of the 15 Series. It can hold 650 m of PE No. 1.5, 450 m of PE No. 2 or 300 m of PE No. 3.
Furthermore, the spool design achieves the ideal balance—just as with the Size 15 model—by taking into account the variation in reeling speed caused by line release. It is precisely because the variation in line reeling is optimised that the reel delivers the correct drag performance, contributing to both smooth reeling and the power required to close the distance between the reel and the fish.

Spool replaceable

‘A simple and convenient Spool replacement function.’

The side plate screws on the gearbox side can be replaced by removing the three screws.
By having a spare spool to hand, you can swap spools immediately in the event of an unexpected line break or depending on sea conditions.

Using the spool replacement spanner (T8) supplied, remove the five side plate screws on the gearbox side to remove the gearbox cover.
The side plate screws feature an anti-loss design that prevents them from falling out even when fully loosened, thereby avoiding the hassle of losing them.

Reel Foot

‘I’d like you to experience for yourselves the difference a single millimetre makes to the size of the reel.’
Depending on the style of Jigging, the grip position may vary and the shape of the Rod’s reel seat may differ. Consequently, the 10-SJ series, like the SALTIGA 15-SJ series, features a repositioned reel seat.
By sliding the reel body 1.0 mm forwards relative to the SALTIGA 10 series, the grip feels more compact when doing slow Jigging.
We invite you to experience the 10-SJ series for yourself—a ‘Slow Jigging Special’ model that we developed through repeated prototyping, fine-tuning the design in increments of 1 mm and 0.1 mm.
