EMERALDAS’s high-end AIR series has been revamped with the introduction of AIRDRIVE DESIGN!

A series designed specifically for Squid Fishing（Eging） that lives up to the EMERALDAS name, delivering a high standard of performance across all the key aspects required for the sport, including ease of use, light weight, durability and smooth rotation.

The 25EMERALDAS AIR has been further lightened, surpassing even its predecessor, the 21EMERALDAS AIR, which was the lightest model in the EMERALDAS series to date. When paired with the EMERALDAS AIR 75MLM・K and the EMERALDAS AIR LT2500S, the total weight of the tackle setup is just 230g. For Squid Fishing（Eging），which involves continuous jigging movements throughout the day, this reduced weight offers a significant practical advantage. Furthermore, the adoption of the AIRDRIVE DESIGN has improved weight balance. By reducing the sensation of heaviness in the hand, the rod will feel even lighter.

The superior manoeuvrability achieved by reducing the sensation of weight is also a major factor affecting catch rates in Squid Fishing（Eging），where the lure is constantly jigged. This high level of manoeuvrability, which allows the lure to be controlled at will, is essential for landing that prized catch in increasingly competitive fishing grounds.

The drive gear—the heart of the reel—features a machine-cut TOUGH DIGIGEAR made from ultra-high-strength duralumin with a special surface treatment. Although Squid Fishing places heavy demands on the reel, the inclusion of this tough drive gear ensures it can be used with even greater confidence.

The handle features an EVA power round knob, which is non-slip and easy to grip, supporting comfortable jigging.

This is a series we’d like not only EMERALDAS fans but also squid jigging anglers who demand high-performance reels to try out.

DAIWA Technology

AIRDRIVE DESIGN
The AIRDRIVE DESIGN is a next-generation spinning reel design philosophy that pursues the ability for anglers to manoeuvre Lures precisely as they wish. The AIRDRIVE DESIGN comprises up to four technologies. It requires the incorporation of an AIRDRIVE ROTOR, which ensures smooth reeling and produces highly responsive rotation, alongside a lightweight, trouble-free AIRDRIVE BAIL, a thin-walled AIRDRIVE SPOOL, which has been stripped of all unnecessary material to the absolute limit to achieve maximum lightness; and the AIRDRIVE SHAFT, which supports the main shaft with high-precision bushings and features a non-contact design with the pinion gear, enabling smooth, quiet reeling with minimal rotational noise even under heavy loads. The synergistic effect of these components, combined with improved weight balance within the reel, delivers a high level of manoeuvrability.

AIRDRIVE ROTOR
Based on our proprietary theory, we have devised a new shape that appears as though it has been cut directly from a sphere; by then thoroughly trimming away all unnecessary material, we have achieved a significant reduction in weight whilst maintaining rigidity. The ease of reeling has improved dramatically, leading to enhanced manoeuvrability and sensitivity.
AIRDRIVE BAIL
The AIRBAIL, which has traditionally utilised a hollow-pipe structure to provide rigidity and lightness, has been redesigned with a smaller diameter whilst maintaining the necessary strength, in order to achieve even greater weight reduction. The bail has been set at an optimal angle to ensure the line transitions more smoothly from the bail to the line roller. This delivers even greater lightness and trouble-free operation.
AIRDRIVE SPOOL
A thin-walled design that trims away unnecessary material to achieve the ultimate in weight reduction. Weight has been thoroughly minimised, not only through the thin-walled design of the spool skirt but also through the use of internal spool cut-outs. The lighter spool improves manoeuvrability, such as the ease of reeling and casting action. Furthermore, the low-friction drag mechanism enhances responsiveness when the drag is engaged.
AIRDRIVE SHAFT
This system features a linear shaft with a non-contact design between the main shaft and the pinion, eliminating frictional resistance entirely; furthermore, by supporting both ends of the pinion with ball bearings, it maximises the conversion of input power into rotational force. In addition, by supporting the main shaft with high-precision collars, the system thoroughly reduces rotational noise.
MONOCOQUE BODY
Robust and durable technology: the MONOCOQUE BODY. Conventional spinning reels typically featured a design in which the drive gear was supported at both ends by the body and the body cover, and secured in place with several screws. Aiming to further improve precision and rigidity, the MONOCOQUE BODY eliminates the body cover and instead secures a high-precision plate directly to the body by screwing it in. This has enhanced the precision with which the gears are supported, whilst also improving rigidity and airtightness. Furthermore, by utilising the space previously occupied by screws, we have succeeded in maximising the size of the drive gear to the absolute limit. The term ‘MONOCOQUE BODY’ derives from ‘MONO’ (one) and ‘COQUE’ (shell). This entirely new design, symbolising the resilience of a single-piece shell, shatters conventional wisdom regarding reel construction.
MAGSEALED
DAIWA’s unique waterproof design creates a barrier of magnetic oil between the body and the rotor to prevent the ingress of seawater, dust and other contaminants.
MAGSEALED LINE ROLLER
The Line Roller is the component that directly comes into contact with the water and sand picked up by the line. Enhancing the water resistance of the Line Roller under these harsh conditions helps to maintain its initial performance, such as rotational feel and sensitivity; it drastically reduces the build-up of salt and foreign matter, and the improved rotation also helps to minimise line twist.
ZAION
Using DAIWA’s proprietary technology, we have successfully moulded a special resin with a high density of woven carbon fibres—a material renowned for its extreme difficulty to process. This represents the pinnacle of DAIWA Carbon Material, combining astonishing lightness with exceptional strength. Only our top-of-the-range models are privileged to incorporate this performance.

TOUGH DIGIGEAR
To withstand harsh conditions, a reel needs a robust core to support it. ‘TOUGH DIGIGEAR’ ensures smoother rotation for longer.
ATD TYPE-L
The ATD operates smoothly in response to the fish’s pull and maintains a consistent drag. The ATD TYPE-L offers enhanced initial response. Designed to prioritise smooth engagement and tracking, it allows you to concentrate on the fight without worrying about drag settings.
LC-ABS (Long Cast ABS)
Whilst retaining the ABS II design philosophy of reducing contact resistance, the contacts have been moved forward to achieve smoother line release. As the ring section protrudes further forward, the line is less likely to ride up onto the ring; this has resulted in a cast distance increase of approximately 5 per cent compared to the conventional ABS II, whilst also improving reliability. A next-generation ABS spool that delivers LC (LONG CAST).

MC (Machine-Cut) Tough Digi Gear made from ultra-high-strength duralumin
The ultra-high-strength duralumin MC Tough Digi Gear fitted to the 25EMERALDAS AIR is crafted from cold-forged material finished to a high strength, and is precision-machined to achieve the ideal gear. A special surface treatment is applied to the drive gear to increase its surface hardness, thereby minimising the adverse effects caused by sudden impacts. This ensures they can be used with confidence for Squid Fishing（Eging），where the drive gear is subjected to heavy loads.
EVA power round knob
Features the ‘EVA power round knob’, ideal for Squid Fishing（Eging）.
Made from EVA for a comfortable grip and slip-resistant finish. As it is made from black EVA, any squid ink that gets on it is less likely to show.
Perfect line stopper
A new-design line stopper compatible with both fine lines, such as PE, and thicker lines, such as Leaders. Its horizontal shape saves space in the vertical direction and also helps to reduce the weight of the Spool.
Body with no stoppers
The body structure has been simplified by removing the stopper. The decision to remove the stopper—which acts as a pathway for water and foreign matter to enter—not only reduces weight and improves water resistance but also minimises the risk of sudden malfunctions that might otherwise occur when using the 25EMERALDAS AIR in harsh environments or whilst fighting the Big One.

LT2500S Weighing just 155g, the LT2500S is the lightest model in the EMERALDAS series to date.
With its line capacity of PE 0.6–200 and lightweight design, it is recommended for autumn squid fishing, where lures of approximately No. 2.5 to No. 3.0 are primarily used.
Its unrivalled lightness contributes to sensitivity that allows you to detect not only bites from big-eyed squids but even the slightest changes in the current.
It features a standard gear ratio, making it well-suited to technical baiting techniques that minimise the distance the lure travels.
LT2500S-DH It features a double handle and an EVA power round knob, whilst achieving a lightweight design of just 175g.
Taking advantage of its line capacity of 200m of PE 0.6 and its lightweight design, it is recommended for autumn squid fishing, where egi of approximately No. 2.5 to No. 3.0 are mainly used.
The double-handle design ensures that the handle does not rotate in the angler’s hand due to its weight after a jerk, allowing the angler to keep their eyes on the line and concentrate on the bite.
Its overwhelming lightness contributes to sensitivity that allows the angler to detect not only the bites of bigfin squids but even the slightest changes in the current.
It features a standard gear ratio, making it well-suited to technical baiting techniques that minimise line movement.
PC LT2500-DH A PC (Power Custom) model capable of powerful reeling.
A versatile all-rounder. With a line capacity of 200m of PE 0.8 and its powerful reeling capability, it can be used with confidence even in situations requiring egi of size 3.0 or larger.
Thanks to the double-handle design, the handle does not rotate in the opposite direction due to its weight after a jerk, allowing you to keep your eyes on the line and concentrate on the bite.
Highly recommended for popular techniques such as tip-run and Casting with Squid jigs.
PC LT2500-H A PC (Power Custom) model capable of powerful reeling.
