An AIRDRIVE ROTOR with a unique shape, as if carved from a sphere. Through its development, we have succeeded in constructing the rotor from aluminium whilst maintaining the comfortable handling provided by low inertia—an essential requirement for compact spinning reels. The synergy with the full-metal (AL) MONOCOQUE BODY delivers unprecedented rigidity, excellent reeling performance and a rotational feel unique to metal. This ‘Special Edition’ model proves particularly effective when battling large fish that require considerable strength, or when reeling lures with high drag, such as metal vibes, blade jigs and large MINNOWs. For this reason, the range has been deliberately limited to sizes 3000 to 5000.

Furthermore, a number of enhancements and material choices have been made throughout the design with tough use in mind, including the ATD TOUGH system utilising high-durability carbon washers, high-strength stainless steel drag knob nuts, a crank bail that ensures reliable line feed to the line roller, and a newly designed MAGSEALED line roller with improved water resistance.

It’s not just about the numbers. The emotional texture is another privilege unique to HD. The black-based exterior is adorned with a dazzling sheen achieved through a new paint finish. Two additional ball bearings have been added, bringing the total to 12. From the body to the rotor, the CERTATE HD boasts high rigidity and excellent winding performance thanks to its all-metal construction.

AIRDRIVE DESIGN
The AIRDRIVE DESIGN is a next-generation spinning reel design philosophy that pursues the ability for anglers to manoeuvre Lures precisely as they wish. The AIRDRIVE DESIGN comprises up to four technologies. It requires the incorporation of an AIRDRIVE ROTOR, which ensures smooth reeling and produces highly responsive rotation, alongside a lightweight, trouble-free AIRDRIVE BAIL, a thin-walled AIRDRIVE SPOOL, which has been stripped of all unnecessary material to the absolute limit to achieve maximum lightness; and the AIRDRIVE SHAFT, which supports the main shaft with high-precision bushings and features a non-contact design with the pinion gear, enabling smooth, quiet reeling with minimal rotational noise even under heavy loads. The synergistic effect of these components, combined with improved weight balance within the reel, delivers a high level of manoeuvrability.
AIRDRIVE ROTOR
Based on our proprietary theory, we have devised a new shape that appears as though it has been cut directly from a sphere; by then thoroughly trimming away all unnecessary material, we have achieved a significant reduction in weight whilst maintaining rigidity. The ease of reeling has improved dramatically, leading to enhanced manoeuvrability and sensitivity.
AIRDRIVE BAIL
The AIRBAIL, which has traditionally utilised a hollow-pipe structure to provide rigidity and lightness, has been redesigned with a smaller diameter whilst maintaining the necessary strength, in order to achieve even greater weight reduction. The bail has been set at an optimal angle to ensure the line transitions more smoothly from the bail to the line roller. This delivers even greater lightness and trouble-free operation.
AIRDRIVE SPOOL
A thin-walled design that trims away unnecessary material to achieve the ultimate in weight reduction. Weight has been thoroughly minimised, not only through the thin-walled design of the spool skirt but also through the use of internal spool cut-outs. The lighter spool improves manoeuvrability, such as the ease of reeling and casting action. Furthermore, the low-friction drag mechanism enhances responsiveness when the drag is engaged.
AIRDRIVE SHAFT
This system features a linear shaft with a non-contact design between the main shaft and the pinion, eliminating frictional resistance entirely; furthermore, by supporting both ends of the pinion with ball bearings, it maximises the conversion of input power into rotational force. In addition, by supporting the main shaft with high-precision collars, the system thoroughly reduces rotational noise.
MONOCOQUE BODY
Robust and durable technology: the MONOCOQUE BODY. Conventional spinning reels typically featured a design in which the drive gear was supported at both ends by the body and the body cover, and secured in place with several screws. Aiming to further improve precision and rigidity, the MONOCOQUE BODY eliminates the body cover and instead secures a high-precision plate directly to the body by screwing it in. This has enhanced the precision with which the gears are supported, whilst also improving rigidity and airtightness. Furthermore, by utilising the space previously occupied by screws, we have succeeded in maximising the size of the drive gear to the absolute limit. The term ‘MONOCOQUE BODY’ derives from ‘MONO’ (one) and ‘COQUE’ (shell). This entirely new design, symbolising the resilience of a single-piece shell, shatters conventional wisdom regarding reel construction.
TOUGH DIGIGEAR
To withstand harsh conditions, a reel needs a robust core to support it. ‘TOUGH DIGIGEAR’ ensures smoother rotation for longer.
ATD TOUGH
The ATD operates smoothly in response to the fish’s pull and maintains a consistent drag. The ATD TOUGH features carbon washers, delivering exceptional durability. Designed to prioritise smooth engagement and responsiveness, it allows you to concentrate on the fight without worrying about drag settings.
LC-ABS (Long Cast ABS)
Whilst retaining the ABS II design philosophy of reducing contact resistance, the contacts have been moved forward to achieve smoother line release. As the ring section protrudes further forward, the line is less likely to ride up onto the ring; this has resulted in a cast distance increase of approximately 5 per cent compared to the conventional ABS II, whilst also improving reliability. A next-generation ABS spool that delivers LC (LONG CAST).
MAGSEALED
DAIWA’s unique waterproof design creates a barrier of magnetic oil between the body and the rotor to prevent the ingress of seawater, dust and other contaminants.
MAGSEALED LINE ROLLER
The Line Roller is the component that directly comes into contact with the water and sand picked up by the line. Enhancing the water resistance of the Line Roller under these harsh conditions helps to maintain its initial performance, such as rotational feel and sensitivity; it drastically reduces the build-up of salt and foreign matter, and the improved rotation also helps to minimise line twist.

MAGSEALED
DAIWA’s unique waterproof construction creates a barrier of magnetic oil to prevent the ingress of seawater and dust, thereby maintaining light and smooth initial rotation performance over the long term. In the 26CERTATE HD, this technology has been incorporated into the Pinion and Line Roller sections. This further enhances water resistance, durability and rotational performance, delivering a high level of water resistance.
Ultra-high-strength duralumin MC (machine-cut) Tough Digi Gear: ‘Precise meshing generates power’
The drive gear—the most crucial component within a reel—requires a trinity of integrated elements: design philosophy, machining technology and gear material. The MC Tough Digi Gear, made from ultra-high-strength duralumin and fitted to the 26CERTATE HD, achieves the ideal gear by applying high-precision machine cutting to a material that has been cold-forged to ensure high strength. Furthermore, a special surface treatment is applied to the drive gear to increase its surface hardness, thereby minimising the adverse effects caused by sudden impacts. Moreover, for the XH gear models of the larger-sized LT3000, LT4000-C, LT5000-C and LT5000—which are expected to be subjected to high loads—high-strength pinion gears, proven in models such as the SALTIGA, have been newly adopted to ensure absolute reliability.
AIRDRIVE BAIL: ‘Towards even greater trouble-free operation’
For many years, the AIRBAIL fitted to DAIWA spinning reels has utilised a hollow-pipe structure that provides both lightness and rigidity. Furthermore, its unique shape ensures that the line is guided smoothly onto the line roller, enabling trouble-free reeling. To achieve even greater weight reduction, the Air Drive Bail has been made slimmer whilst maintaining the necessary strength. Furthermore, it has been set at an optimal angle to ensure the line transitions more smoothly from the bail to the line roller. This not only underpins the performance of the AIRDRIVE ROTOR but also results in a reel that is even lighter and more trouble-free.
The 26CERTATE HD features the crank-shaped AIRDRIVE BAIL, which ensures that the line is guided smoothly onto the line roller even when using heavier jigs and similar tackle.
